Two boys, two guitars, and a Boss DR-55.

We booked a tiny studio in (then) light-industrial Rockridge in Oakland, borrowed my mom's Volvo 240 wagon, and recorded seven songs. We ran off the cassette for about twenty people, a few of whom booked us for shows. Beyond the band, its familiars, and those twenty, this music has been unheard since the time of its recording. The title was written on a cassette run off the mixing desk at the time of the recording; the band name on the label was still The M-1 Alternative.

Music and production by M-1 Alternative (Joshua Maremont and Bruce Musser).

Recorded on the winter solstice 12-21-1981 at Likewise Productions (engineer unknown - tell us if you know).

Tracks 1-4 restored and transferred from the 1/4" stereo master tape by Tardon Feathered at Mr. Toad's in 2015.

Tracks 5-7 transferred from a mixing desk cassette by Joshua Maremont at The Pancake Institute in 2021.

Album mastered by Joshua Maremont at The Pancake Institute in 2021.

No compression or limiting was used in the mastering process.

This album begins the release of the studio recordings of M-1 Alternative between 1981 and 1992.
