Bishop It's fantastic to hear these early tracks that preceded M-1's three classic albums. Bruce and Josh should have been *huge*. Favorite track: Photographs Of Day.

kalnins I love it because the songs are so damn long! Favorite track: Pain In a Dark Room.

about

Two boys, two guitars, a Drumatix, and a Pro-One.

Half a year after Music For War Heroes, we booked a session at John Altmann Recording, to which we would return in the years to come, and committed the last five songs of the two-guitar lineup of the group to tape. The early sound is still there, but synthesizer and clean guitar provide a hint of the more expansive music soon to come. A handful of friends, record labels, and club bookers got copies on cassette; one of those bookers, Dirk Dirksen told me, "your songs are just too damn long," before giving us a night at The On Broadway, above Mabuhay "Fab Mab" Gardens, and I am sure he had the second song here in mind. There are some baffling mix moves in to be heard, but the tape box notes "all hands on Lexicon," and a cassette made from the mixing desk confirms that these were done on the faders rather than being artifacts of the aging of the tapes.

Music and production by M-1 Alternative (Joshua Maremont and Bruce Musser).

Recorded on 7-7-1982 at John Altmann Recording.

Engineered by Mat.

All tracks restored and transferred from the 1/4" stereo master tape by Tardon Feathered at Mr. Toad's in 2015.

Album mastered by Joshua Maremont at The Pancake Institute in 2022.
